Founded in 2021 as a community initiative to strike a balance between us and

wildlife. Our Community has always struggled to with the wildlife, most of which comes from the Matetsi Safari Area and surrounding private wildlife properties.

While Wildlife has wrecked havoc on our livestock and crops, with elephants, baboons and lions being the major culprits, we are not innocent victims in the matter.

Over the years we have rapidly depopulating our precious land through rampant wildlife poaching and deforestation activities. These activities reached alarming levels with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic which saw the majority of breadwinners losing their jobs, resulting in them turning to charcoal production and hunting to feed our families.

This prompted us to put our heads together and solve the perennial problems of poaching, deforestation and unemployment through the  Sanctuary initiative.
